UNIFY is looking for a Senior Project Manager in Wellington, New Zealand to help the successful delivery of allocated projects for UNIFY clients globally.

Position Details

The Senior Project Manager (Senior PM) role is accountable for successful delivery of allocated projects from project scoping and commencement to project completion. This will be achieved through:

  • Complying with UNIFY’s Project Management Process.
  • Managing the consultant performance allocated to the projects
  • Managing client success through the development and maintenance of strong relationships with client project teams

The Senior PM is responsible for leading the overall success of the project both in terms of delivering quality solutions for its clients as well as commercial success for UNIFY Solutions.

In addition to applying the UNIFY Project Management Process on all projects, the Senior PM also is responsible for continuously identifying and executing improvements to the Project Management process.

The Senior PM will work with the UNIFY Leadership team, UNIFY employees, and clients to meet its vision and strive to behave in a manner that reinforces UNIFY’s values.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Contribute to the development of Statements of Work (SoW) in the Pre-Sales phase when requested.
  • Identification of resources required during the planning phase.
  • Managing the project as defined in the Statement of Works.
  • Maintain financial control across projects by proactively managing budgets, identifying cost risks early, and implementing corrective actions to protect margins and timelines.
  • Project invoicing in line with agreed milestones.
  • Lead resource planning and allocation across concurrent client engagements, ensuring the right skills are available at the right time while maintaining high utilization, team wellbeing, and delivery quality within a lean consulting environment.
  • Provide risk oversight and governance across concurrent engagements, ensuring early visibility of threats, clear ownership, timely escalation, and decisive resolution to maintain delivery confidence.
  • Own end-to-end project reporting by producing concise status updates, forecasts, and exception reports that support informed decision-making for clients and internal leadership in a lean consulting environment.
  • Comply with consistent project management standards, tools and techniques including processes for risk, issue and scope management.
  • Establish and managing project progress meetings with clients. Builds trust with clients through honest, easy-to-understand reporting that clearly communicates status, impacts, and recommended actions without unnecessary complexity.
  • Complete post implementation reviews, as agreed with the Head of Project Delivery, for projects (internal & with the client).
  • Deliver projects in accordance with the UNIFY Project Management Process and consistent with PM standards adopting appropriate tools and techniques including risk, issue and scope management.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to contribute to the successful performance across the company.
  • Improve and develop technical skills by developing meaningful IP (documentation, in-house training). Especially in areas where there are considerable knowledge-gaps between team members.  

Communication & Reporting

Effective communication and reporting is vital for the successful delivery of a project and is a major responsibility for the UNIFY project manager. Achievement will be measured against the goals identified below:

  • Regular status reports are generated and shared with the client and UNIFY team and your Reporting Manager as required.
  • Status reports stored in the UNIFY shared repository.
  • Escalations of project issues including client dissatisfaction occur early and remediation steps are identified and executed.

Selection Criteria

Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in program/project management.
  • Foundation knowledge of IT systems / IT software development lifecycles.
  • Experience leading a geographically distributed team of between 3-5 resources.
  • 5+ years of working within IT and / or professional services.
  • 3-5 years of project management experience.
  • 3-5 years of equivalent leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificates in Project Management, Business or IT/Computer Science (minimum) or 15 years industry experience.
  • Project Management certification.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship building capabilities, including the ability to represent the organisation externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and coach team members.
  • Ability to engender a continuous improvement culture across a workforce.
  • The right to work in New Zealand.
  • National Police Check (or willingness to attain).
  • An understanding of and commitment to compliance of Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
