Microsoft Entra Verified ID is a decentralized identity solution that helps organisations safeguard their users by issuing their own customised verifiable credentials. Verifiers can use the service’s free REST API to easily request and accept verifiable credentials in their apps and services. In both cases, users are required to configure their Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) tenant so that they can use it to either issue their own verifiable credentials, or verify the presentation of a user’s verifiable credentials that were issued by another organisation. UNIFY is currently working with the tertiary education sector looking at the use cases for access to digital services; access to exam sittings, access to library services; access to facilities; and sharing qualifications across organisations. Many of these use cases are applicable in many industry sectors.
